A piece of jewellery you love is personal. You either chose it, were given it by someone special, or have built your own memories and meanings around it. In our stressful, relentless and mass produced world today, having something unique, meaningful and personal to hold onto is more important than ever. That's why our pieces are all made as limited edition collections. We believe in keeping something special as just that.
Costume jewellery is a sometimes derogatory term used to describe non precious jewellery - i.e. jewellery not made from precious materials such as solid gold, silver or ‘precious’ stones, such as cut diamond, ruby, emerald etc. Yet this shouldn’t mean that costume jewellery should not be made from durable, special and beautiful materials. Too often costume, statement or novelty jewellery is instead made with poor quality metals which will soon tarnish and cause skin allergies. If a shop doesn’t mention the metals or materials used for their pieces, the likelihood is they aren’t good quality.
We believe there is no need or excuse for this, as often a piece of unique, unusually designed jewellery will be your favourite piece to wear for years, and there is nothing more frustrating than when your trusted, chosen jewellery with your memories and identity attached to it fades and becomes unwearable.
Style and Comfort - Never Compromise
Something that isn’t often mentioned in the marketing of luxury fashion or jewellery, is comfort. As tempting as it is as a designer to use the most unusual designs and objects to create my pieces, I always stop myself when that means that the simple function of the piece, which is to wear it at any time, becomes uncomfortable or inhibiting.
I want to share unique pieces that speak to people’s dreams and emotions - whatever and whenever they may be - and that requires each piece to be wearable in any circumstances; whether that means at work, at play, in drama or at rest. I want you to be able to wear my pieces many times, have wild fun wearing them, and to make memories with them - to have them in your life whenever you choose.
Jewellery With A Heart Of Steel
Our pieces are designed with the intention of lasting, so when making costume pieces, instead of unnamed alloy metals I always choose stainless steel - a pure and beautiful metal in its own right, which never tarnishes (unlike silver) and is the safest metal to place against human skin as far as allergens are concerned.
There is a strength and endurance attached to stainless steel - not just in its physical qualities, but also in the spiritual association of its raw strength and power, which arms and protects your psyche when you wear it. A stainless steel piece of jewellery will never deteriorate, tarnish in appearance, or discolour your skin - but it will maintain its original beauty, be a constant in your life, and travel with you through the good times and the tough.
It's also extra important to note what the ear hooks of your earrings are made of. The best choice to avoid discomfort and allergies for most people is stainless steel, followed by solid sterling silver/ gold. We use both for our earrings, and it's not worth wearing anything less. Again, there's little more disappointing to try on an awesome pair of earrings, then feel that pain and realise you can't wear them anymore!!
